We are Heartland Center for Autism
Heartland Center for Autism is Michigan’s only short-term intensive residential treatments facility specializing in adolescent Autism. We are licensed by the state of Michigan as a Child Caring Institution exclusively serving children between the ages of 6-17 who are diagnosed with Autism or other developmental disabilities. Our primary mission is to enhance the lives of our residents by addressing their unique needs and challenges.

Collaborative Care:
Heartland emphasizes a multi-disciplinary approach by working closely with various professionals, including medical, psychiatric, psychological, and educational specialists. This collaborative effort ensures that the children receive a comprehensive and well-rounded treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.
Transition to Home:
One of our central goals is to prepare our residents to successfully transition back to their home environments. This indicates that the programs and interventions offered are designed to equip them with the necessary skills and behaviors to thrive in their home setting and community.
Who Funds Heartland’s Services?
Heartland Center for Autism is 100% funded by Medicaid. We continually add new Community Mental Health Agencies throughout Michigan via Contracts and Single Case Agreements. We also serve consumers through the MDHHS AGAO Adoption Subsidy.
PLEASE NOTE: Should you be denied services to Heartland or have trouble getting authorization to Heartland, your CMH may not be aware Heartland Center for Autism is a covered Medicaid benefit, please see May 12, 2023 memo from the state of Michigan clarifying and confirming our services. Please do not hesitate to contact us or ask your CMH to reach out directly.

Heart is a great word to describe Heartland
After many stays in traditional settings my son was sent to Heartland. The kindness, understanding, and support we received from day one was amazing. Being able to have continued support during his stay and after his discharge. As a parent It was nice to get to speak with staff frequently. Above anything it was a nice welcoming and comfortable environment for my child.
